Winners will be announced in September!

The Competition

Submit an original piece of virtual art that reflects your hopes and dreams for the region after the cloud of COVID-19 has passed. In addition to submissions by individual artists, special prizes will be awarded to collaborative works by two or more artists from across a border of identity. Those who wish to submit collaborative art may find their own cross-border partner, or ask Array of Site for assistance in finding one.

Eligibility

The competition is open to young and aspiring artists from all countries of the Middle East and North Africa, whether currently residing in the region or elsewhere.

Eligible submissions include digital art as well as digital photo representations of traditional art. With respect to traditional art, we will consider professionally rendered digital images of painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, and sculpture. With respect to digital art, we will consider works of digital painting and illustration, photography, digital image manipulation, animation, comics and caricature, 3D modeling and rendering, and calligraphy/typography. This competition does not include music or film.

Array of Sight will present qualifying artwork via its online exhibition, social media platforms, and a range of promotional venues. Participants will be asked to sign a form granting these rights to the initiative while retaining the overall copyright to their work both during and after the competition. Participants will also affirm that their work does not include copyrighted content which does not belong to them.

There is no entry fee to participate. The deadline for all entries is June 30, 2023.

Criteria

Entries will be evaluated and rated by our judges on the basis of quality, originality, technique, and thematic relevance.

Prizes and Benefits

Four cash prizes will be awarded to the winners. In the category of collaborative art, the first prize will be $3,500 and second prize will be $2,500. In the category of individual art, first prize will be $1,250 and second prize will be $750. The winners will be honored at a special live broadcast event which will convene in the region.

All submissions qualified by the judges will be exhibited via the competition’s Web site — a virtual gallery, available in multiple languages to art lovers and media around the world. For those contestants wishing to make their work available for sale, the site will offer that option to browsers, and place artists in direct contact with their potential patrons. Additionally, Array of Sight will publish stories about exhibition artists and their work — in multiple languages and on social media, print publications, and broadcasts. In doing so, we aim to raise the international profile of as many participants as possible.
